While we will happily help you find the perfect flooring, here is a list of the most popular types of flooring, and some basic info on each of them:

Wall-to-wall Carpet

Best For:
  • Bedrooms
  • Home Offices
  • Areas of low foot traffic
  • Commercial Offices
  • Hotel Rooms, etc.

Advantages:

  • Comfortable, warm and soft
  • Reduces noise in a loud or big space
  • Good quality, or high-end carpet, can last between 10-30 years if properly cared for, and maintained
  • Non-slippery and can help cushion a fall (good for pets, young children and the elderly)
  • Many low-cost and stain-resistant options
Disadvantages:
  • Certain types of wall-to-wall carpet can be easily damaged or stained
  • Likely to show footprints
  • Will absorb dirt and liquid
  • If damaged, and cannot be repaired, the entire area of wall-to-wall carpet will need to be replaced, as to eliminate the possibilities of seams and mismatched colors
  • Need to be vacuumed and steam-cleaned often

Hardwood Flooring

Best For:
  • Living Rooms
  • Family Rooms
  • Dining Rooms
  • Home Offices
  • Areas of High Traffic

Advantages:

  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • Very durable
  • Adds resale value to any home or space
  • Long-lasting
  • High-end look
  • Great long-term investment
Disadvantages:
  • Can be easily scratched in a home with kids or pets
  • Both the product, and installation, can be costly
  • Depending on how long you will be occupying the space, you will likely have to refinish the floors, at some point
  • Can make a room louder and/or colder
  • Low resistance to atmospheric changes, as it can expand/retract in different temperatures/climates

Luxury Vinyl Flooring

Best For:
  • Living Rooms
  • Family Rooms
  • Dining Rooms
  • Home Offices
  • Areas of High Traffic
  • Homes with kids/pets

Advantages:

  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • Very durable
  • Many options are kid-proof, pet-proof and waterproof, such as COREtec
  • Long-lasting
  • Many options look and feel like real wood
  • Great long-term investment
  • If damaged, planks can be replaced individually, instead of having to replace all of the flooring
Disadvantages:
  • Some styles can still be damaged, even though extremely durable
  • Your subfloor may require a lot of prep
  • Won’t improve the value of you home/space
  • Can be slippery, AKA more of a fall risk
