Wall-to-wall Carpet
Best For:
Bedrooms
Home Offices
Areas of low foot traffic
Commercial Offices
Hotel Rooms, etc.
Advantages:
Comfortable, warm and soft
Reduces noise in a loud or big space
Good quality, or high-end carpet, can last between 10-30 years if properly cared for, and maintained
Non-slippery and can help cushion a fall (good for pets, young children and the elderly)
Many low-cost and stain-resistant options
Disadvantages:
Certain types of wall-to-wall carpet can be easily damaged or stained
Likely to show footprints
Will absorb dirt and liquid
If damaged, and cannot be repaired, the entire area of wall-to-wall carpet will need to be replaced, as to eliminate the possibilities of seams and mismatched colors
Need to be vacuumed and steam-cleaned often

Won’t improve the value of you home/space

Engineered Wood Flooring
Engineered Wood also known as “man-made wood” or “composite wood” is a versatile, and more affordable alternative to hardwood. It is constructed from multiple layers of wood called ply, that have been reformed using heat, glue and pressure. Each layer runs in different directions, making it very stable and giving it a good resistance to warping. Good quality engineered wood is durable and long-lasting.
Best For:
Living Rooms
Family Rooms
Dining Rooms
Home Offices
Areas of High Traffic
Homes with kids/pets
Advantages:
Looks just like real wood
Some types can be sanded and refinished
Doesn’t expand and contract to the same extent as real hardwood flooring
Very durable
It is affordable and won’t break the bank
Disadvantages:
Some products cannot be refinished or sanded
It can dent and scratch over time
It is not waterproof
Some products can be more costly, and thus similar in price to real hardwood
Can fade in the sun
Not low maintenance — requires just as much maintenance as real hardwood.
